A Celebration of Life will be held on [INSERT DATE] at the Eames Family Cottage on Horseshoe Lake in Minden. All family and friends are welcome to join us in remembering and celebrating Wayne's life.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Wayne Harry Eames, who passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at the age of 80.
Wayne will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Linda Eames, and their three sons: Trevor (Shannon), Colin (Julie), and Matthew (Jonny). He was a proud grandfather of Tyler, Lauren, and Liam, and a loving brother to Sandra, nephew Dave (Tessie), and nieces Debbie (Dave) and Julie (Blaine).
Wayne dedicated many years of his life to his career as a mechanic, including working at Smith Transport and serving 28 years with Toronto Police Services as a marine mechanic. Throughout his working life, he was known for his dedication, hard work, and pride in his profession. He especially loved his time with the Marine Unit, where he could do what he enjoyed most: working on and fixing boats.
Beyond his career, one of Wayne's greatest joys was spending time at the family cottage on Horseshoe Lake in Minden. Wayne and his beloved wife, Linda, shared over 57 years of marriage, building a lifetime of love, memories, and experiences together. The cottage held a very special place in both their hearts. It was a place to relax, enjoy the beauty of the outdoors, and create lasting memories with family. The peaceful lake, familiar surroundings, and countless moments spent there brought them happiness, comfort, and a sense of home away from home. For Wayne and Linda, the cottage was much more than a getaway; it was a treasured part of their life together.
While Wayne was dedicated to his work and took great pride in what he did, family was always an important part of his life. The memories made over the years, especially those shared at Horseshoe Lake, will forever remain close to the hearts of those who loved him.
Wayne will also be remembered for his wicked sense of humour and his love of making people laugh. He enjoyed a good chat with just about anyone and could always be counted on to strike up a conversation. Affectionately known as the “King of the One-Liners,” Wayne had a special way of bringing laughter into everyday moments. His quick wit, humour, and ability to make people smile were just some of the qualities that made him so memorable.
His absence will be deeply felt, but the stories, laughter, and cherished moments shared with Wayne will continue to bring comfort to his family and all who knew him. His humour and the memories of his one-liners will undoubtedly live on for years to come.
Wayne will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his loving family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.
May he rest in peace, forever held in the hearts and memories of those who loved him.
The family is asking, in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to Diabetes Canada in honour of Wayne Eames.
